The reopening is intended to allow candidates in the ongoing recruitment exercise to check their recruitment status and continue with the required procedures. The Board specifically stated that candidates who had reached the oral interview stage would be able to check their status and proceed with the mandatory drug test, subject to the relevant requirements.

Applicants should understand that the reopening announcement does not, by itself, mean that every applicant has been shortlisted or selected. Candidates must check their individual status through the official portal and follow the instructions applicable to them.

Four Paramilitary Agencies Covered by the Recruitment

The ongoing recruitment exercise covers four agencies under the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board.

1. Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)

The NSCDC is responsible for protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, supporting public safety and responding to threats within its statutory responsibilities. Candidates who applied to join the Corps should check the official recruitment portal for updates relevant to their applications.

2. Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS)

The Nigeria Correctional Service manages correctional facilities and carries out custodial, rehabilitation and reintegration responsibilities under the country’s correctional system. Applicants who selected the service should monitor their recruitment status and follow official instructions.

3. Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)

The Nigeria Immigration Service is responsible for immigration administration, border management, passport services and other functions established by law. Candidates who applied to the service should use the official CDCFIB portal to check for recruitment updates.

4. Federal Fire Service (FFS)

The Federal Fire Service carries out fire prevention, firefighting and related emergency-response responsibilities. Applicants who selected the service should check the portal for information about their individual application status and any next steps.

What Candidates Should Do When the Portal Reopens

Candidates should prepare to access the recruitment portal during the announced reopening period. The following steps can help applicants avoid unnecessary mistakes:

  1. Visit the official CDCFIB website: Open the Board’s website at https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng/applicant-portal/ and look for the official recruitment portal or recruitment announcement.
  2. Use your existing application details: Keep the information and login details used during your original application available. Follow the official portal’s instructions for accessing your account.
  3. Check your recruitment status: Review any status update or notification displayed on your application dashboard.
  4. Read all instructions carefully: If the portal provides further steps, follow them as directed. Do not rely on unofficial social media posts for individual recruitment decisions.
  5. Prepare for the drug test if instructed: Candidates who are directed to undertake the test should follow the official instructions regarding the venue, date and procedure.
  6. Monitor official announcements: Continue checking the Board’s official communication channels for updates during the reopening period.

Important: The announcement does not provide a new general application process for people who did not participate in the ongoing exercise. Applicants should not assume that the reopening allows new registrations unless the Board explicitly confirms this.

Mandatory Drug Test: What Applicants Need to Know

According to the Board’s press release, candidates who have reached the oral interview stage will be able to check their recruitment status and proceed with the mandatory drug test in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The Board also stated that the drug test would be conducted free of charge, with the Federal Government bearing the cost. Candidates will receive their letters of appointment after certification by the NDLEA that they are free from illegal substance abuse, as stated in the announcement.
